For the second day in a row, more than 4,000 new infections were reported Thursday.
The Interior and Health departments recorded 4,248 new cases in the past 24 hours.
This is well above the average for the previous seven days (3,670). The seven-day incidence was 287.6 cases per 100,000 population.
Upper Austria led the way in infections with 1,269 cases, followed by Lower Austria (786), Styria (458), Vienna (424) and Tyrol (381). Salzburg reported 361 cases, Carinthia 325, Vorarlberg 134 and Burgenland 110.
